Rubbernecker Design Team Sunday- Plant Smiles

Happy Easter! Hope that you have had a wonderful holiday with family and friends. I have another fun Rubbernecker card to share with you today, using the flower pot from the new clear set Create A Garden 2 #3009, and the matching die set, Pot Garden #3009D.  After I colored the flower pot , and die cut it, I used foam tape to pop it up. I added a ribbon stem and loops for leaves. The flower was made from 5 scalloped circles, 1 as the base, and 4 that were folded in half twice to create small triangles. I glued them onto the base circle all going in the same direction, then added a pink brad to the center. The sentiment is from Garden Tool Set #3016, I cut it into smaller pieces and added to my card with a little pink paper to make it pop. This paper is from Doodlebug, love the colors, and that plaid!

There are more fun cards for you to enjoy on the Rubbernecker Inspiration Blog, I hope that you will check them out! Also join in the new challenge “April Showers” for a chance to win some fabulous Rubbernecker Stamps!! 🙂

Rubbernecker Thursday- Birthday Blooms!

Rubbernecker Thursday- Birthday Blooms!

Good Morning! Thank you for stopping by today for another Rubbernecker Stamps card!! I have been having so much fun experimenting with watercolors lately. Before my Copic markers watercolors were my favorite coloring media, but I have not used them in a long while. But lately I have been seeing some of the most beautiful cards with water colors, I just had to get mine out and play! This card was made using  a new Rubbernecker set of clear stamps called Create A Garden 2 #3009, and the matching,  Pot Garden Die Set #3009D. For the pot I used my watercolor crayons and a water brush, die cut the image and popped it up with foam tape. For the flowers I decided I wanted more intense, brighter colors, so I tried an old technique, but something new to me, using my water base inks and a water brush to create the look of watercolors. I have seen this done a lot, but never tried it myself… I was missing out!! This is an awesome technique that I am going to be using all the time! I started by stamping some leaves onto the card front around my pot to create the background for my flowers. On a separate piece of watercolor paper I stamped my flowers in a lighter shade of what ever color I was using for that flower. After blending my ink with the water brush to give to look of water colors – not too much water is a good thing! I then went in  with my water brush and added a darker shade of that same color to give some depth all while the paper was still slightly damp, so my colors would blend well. I die cut the flowers with the Pot Garden die set and arranged them on my card. I decided that I needed to add the purple flowers directly to the card panel with my background leaves, using the same method. I used foam tape on some of the flowers to add depth, as well as a couple of pearls for the centers of my pink flowers. A little watercolor wash in a lighter blue gave me a nice background finish, and a lighter grey gave my flower-pot something to “sit” on. The sentiment is from another new set, also clear stamps, called Best Friends Etc. #3032. This is a wonderful sentiment set with 16 sentiments in all!

I know some of my fellow stamping friends are not clear stamp people. Rubbernecker clear stamps are made in the USA. They have NO funny odor at all! They are a DELIGHT to stamp with, I have had NO trouble with them being “too soft” and have NOT had a hard time getting a clean image – which I have had in the past with other clear stamps (from some companies). I have had NO problems with ink “pooling” on the stamps, or blotchy images – I am really picky about that type of thing!! I have used several different inks on them just to see if this would happen and it did NOT! These clear stamps, stamp crisp and clear, and I am having so much fun creating with them. The fact that they have matching die sets is the cherry on top!!
