Halloween Creepiness

Hello Friend

Hello Friend

DSC_4325_01Another card using Fall In The Forest from A Muse Studio. When my daughter was little she always wanted me to color animals (and other things) in colors you would never see animals. So today, in honor of my girl and her wonderful imagination, we have a blue and green owl!

Colors are Ocean and Margarita, with a little petite polka dot in Onyx to make things pop. Lime 1/4 inch ribbon ties it all together.

Owl colored with Copic markers.

Have a bright and colorful day! So glad you stopped by! 🙂

Happy Fall…Almost!

Happy Fall…Almost!

Well it is almost time to say good-bye to summer and hello to fall! I guess I will be happy to see some cooler weather, but it’s always so sad (to me anyway!) to see summer come to a close. Thankfully I live in an […]

A Couple weeks ago I was asked by my friend, Mischelle Smith, to participate in A Unique Blog Hop! You can see Michelle’s Unique Blog Hop post here!   This sounded like a lot of fun, and a great way not only to share what I have been doing, but also to introduce you to some of my crafty friends as well!!

What am I working on?

Most of what you see here on my blog are cards and projects that I make for my stamping business with A Muse Studio, or the samples for classes I teach in paper crafting. I love what I do! LOVE it!!

Truth be told,  I am a creativity junky! I am always making something, most of it is never seen here!  I make jewelry, I quilt, I paint some, I sculpt a bit in clay and soap stone,

(this is a “Magic Fairy Wand” I made this with my neighbor for a special birthday gift for her niece)                                I do a little leather work, and I dabble in many other different crafts too. Paper crafts just happen to be my favorite medium, and for the last several years it’s the medium I’ve used most for my creative outlet!

Why do I create what I do?

I have been creating things as long as I can remember. It feeds my soul. It fills me up.  It is like breathing, I need to do it. I was a floral designer for 18 years before I had my kids. As a floral designer I got to be creative every single day! I still do an occasional wedding just for the fun of it! These flowers were from last October, my good friend’s daughter got married. Love fall weddings!

I started scrap booking when my kids were little.

One thing led to another, then I found ink, and stamps! Then along came Copic markers, a very slippery slope indeed!

How does my creative process work?

That is a good question… I’m just not sure how to answer it!  My husband’s response to this question was, “procrastination and caffeine”- not actually a process, but kind of true!   I kind of just let my imagination run wild, I just follow along flying by the seat of my pants! I don’t usually have a plan when I start. I don’t go about creating something in the same way each time. Sometimes I start with an idea, or occasion, or a sketch in mind. Sometimes I am inspired by a stamp set or image. Other times I will just color for the joy of coloring then find papers that go along with my image and coloring. Yet other times I am inspired by the colors and design of the paper itself. I create a card or project with the same principles that I create a flower arrangement, or anything else really. It has to balance visually, I create a line for the eye to follow so it is  visually pleasing, and I use color to create a mood or express a feeling. Not really a process right?! I would say, I just play. I’m inspired by the world around me and let myself play, having fun!!   No one else can to see the world exactly like you do, so let your imagination guide you and be an original!

How does my work differ from others in this genre?

I have no idea how to answer this… There are so many extremely talented designers out there that I admire very much. I look at their work and am amazed, delighted, and inspired! I wonder how they came up with an idea,  color combo, or layout.  I have learned that I can’t be them, I can’t see out of their eyes, or create what they create. I can only be me, and create things from my own point of view. I love bright colors and tend to use lots of layers but many others do the same.  I think the only thing that makes my cards and projects different from others is my own creative point of view.

Now I would like to share a couple of my creative friends with you!  These wonderful gals will be posting next week on the first of September, I hope that you will stop by to check out their blogs they are awesome!!

Pam Hersom at  contrailcreations.com  Pam is just getting her blog started, but she is crazy talented,  an amazing colorist, and  one of the sweetest people you could ever know!!

I apologize I am a day late in publishing this, still looking for another blogger to play along…

Hope that your day is full of joy, thanks for stopping by! 🙂

DSC_4143_01Here is another card that I made with my Hostess Group ladies this month.  I have to say I have a couple of the sweetest groups of ladies that I get to spend time with each month, creating fun projects and cards. We have so much FUN! Thank you girls for being such a delight in my life!!

This card uses a great new set from A Muse Studio, called ‘Nine Lives’, so cute! It has several different cats and a ton of wonderful sentiments to go along with them! I colored this little kitty with Slate, Orange, and Lemon Whip splash inks, and a water brush. Paper colors are Kraft, Sugar, Pumpkin and Marigold. Polka dots from ‘Polka Dot Patterns” in Pumpkin ink. My ink pad was a little dry, and I didn’t realize it until I was already committed with that first row of polka dots! 🙂 Orange chevron ribbon finishes it off nicely! 🙂

May your day be filled with unexpected blessings! The good kind!! 🙂 Thanks for stopping by! 🙂
