Rubbernecker Thursday- Gentle as a Butterfly

Rubbernecker Thursday- Gentle as a Butterfly

Welcome to another Rubbernecker Thursday! I have a lovely card to share with you today. I have been playing with all kinds of different elements lately, and having so much fun! I used my FSJ splash sprays like watercolors to create this soft background, and I really love how it turned out! I was also playing around with Journey Modeling Paste and my favorite stencil, Stained Glass, also from FSJ. I applied the modeling paste to a piece of clear card stock, then flipped it over and glued it clear card stock side up. This prevents any of the modeling paste from chipping off. I chose Butterfly 7 #947 for my focal image, this is a watercolor stamp set. It is a two part set, an outline stamp and a solid “filler” stamp that you can use to add color to the wings of the butterfly, with inks or watercolors . I used Distress Oxide inks that I blended together on the stamp with a sponge dauber.  I spritzed the dry inks with water to get a slightly splotchy watercolor look. Then I added a bit of shimmer to the wings with a glitter brush. I die cut my butterfly using the matching die set for this stamp, Butterfly 7 die set #947D. The die was so easy to line up, and cut so crisply, love these dies! The sentiment I chose for this card is Gentle as a Butterfly #627-02. I stamped it onto an oval I cut using Nested Oval Small Stitch Die Set #5014D.

Rubbernecker Thursday- “Dude!”

Rubbernecker Thursday- “Dude!”

Welcome to another Rubbernecker Thursday! I have a really FUN card to share with you today, inspired by this cute little surfer “dude”, Zeke #891-03. SO cute!! I had not colored much since I broke my hand earlier this summer, and this is the first time I have colored with my Copics all summer…*gasp*! All I kept thinking while I was coloring was “Duuude!” So I decided to just go with it.  I die cut my letters for “dude”, then decided it needed something more, so I added a birthday sentiment from the rubbernecker Clear Stamp set, Happy Birthday #3031. The ovals were die cut with some brand new nesting dies from Rubbernecker as well, Nested Oval Small Stitch Die Set #5014 D, I LOVE these dies!! For my background  I stamped Vertical Stripe #686, in Blue Lagoon ink, on Blue Lagoon card stock from Fun Stampers Journey. I dug around in my scraps of Color Burst Watercolor papers and found this perfect piece to go with my little surfer, I think it tied the whole thing together wonderfully!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a wonderful week so far! 🙂 I hope that you will pop over to the Rubbernecker Inspiration Blog and check out all the other fabulous cards that the other design team members have shared this week! I Love The Poppy

I Love The Poppy

DSC_3874b

I have really been enjoying making paper flowers lately. A Muse Studio carries crepe paper in  an abundance of beautiful colors, and it’s not just for party decorations!! When I first saw this beautiful orange, I thought about making California Poppies. Once I started playing with it however, I remembered the beautiful giant Asian Poppies that our neighbor grew when I was a child. They had fuzzy stems and buds, and as they opened they had delicate “crinkled paper” petals of red, or this same shade of orange. The centers were dark grey with  dusty black pollen.  So lovely! Thank you Mr. McGee for sharing your wonderful poppies!!

I used our Orange crepe paper for the petals and our Slate crepe paper for the center, dipped into Slate Splash Spray ink for the darker tones. I decided to pare my poppy with two of our new A Muse Studio Fiesta colors, Marigold and Habanero. Sentiment is from “Big Words”, also new from A Muse. These new items will be available July 1st when our new catalog goes live!! If you would like a copy please contact me.

Hope that you are having a wonderful day today, thanks for stopping by!
