Rubbernecker Thursday- Flying Monkeys

Rubbernecker Thursday- Flying Monkeys

Hello, and welcome to another Rubbernecker Thursday! I just realized it was October. OCTOBER! This year has really just flown by very quickly! For today’s card I decided to embrace the lovely month of October with a Halloween themed card. I have always loved Halloween, as a kid it was so much fun to plan a costume (we always made ours, with little to no purchased items). Trick-or-treating with friends in the Victorian era neighborhood of my home town, on those crisp (cold) autumn nights.  Great memories, so much fun! Today’s card was really quick and easy to make. This card could easily be adapted for a Christmas card as well, just by changing up the colors and swapping the witch for Santa and his sleigh!

I made my background using Pan Pastels. I punched a circle in a piece of scrap paper and used the circle piece mask off my “moon”. I started with a deep blue color, then added the dark purple over the top, love the depth that the two colors added! I removed the circle mask, then used the negative space from the circle punch to mask off the rest of the “sky” and add color to my moon. I did spray this with a workable sealer, so my pastels would stay where I put them, also, so I didn’t continue to add purple fingerprints to everything! 🙂 I used Black Versa Fine ink and my Misti tool to add the Rubbernecker Witch #663-02 and Watercolor Forest #972 to my card front. The Misti tool is so great when you know you will need to add layers of ink to the same spot, love it! I added the sentiment Flying Monkeys #475-02 after I had sprinkled the whole card front with FSJ Sparkle Silk for some extra texture. After I added the sentiment I decided it needed just a little something… I ended up deciding on these purple sequins, I think they add the perfect finish to this fun Halloween card.

Hope that you enjoyed today’s card, thanks so much for stopping by! Rubbernecker Design Team Sunday- Something Fishy…

Rubbernecker Design Team Sunday- Something Fishy…

It’s time for another Rubbernecker Design Team Sunday  post!  These fish make me giggle, I love the looks on their faces!  This set is called Fish Group #895-27, and it also has a matching die Fish Group Die Set #895-27D! You can use the fish as they are, in a group, or cut them out and use just one, or all of them separately. For this card I cut them out and arranged them around a sentiment from Fishing 1 #3003, which is one of the clear sets. It’s a silly sentiment to go with my silly fish!

My background panel was made using Distress Oxide inks, just love the watercolor look you can achieve with these inks. I used FSJ Cool Pool as my accent color, I think it might be an addiction, I seem to use it  all the time! 🙂  Fish were colored with Copic markers, and popped up with FSJ foam squares. I added a bit of Journey twine to the bottom to finish things off.

Hope that you are having a wonderful weekend! We are finally feeling a touch of Autumn in the air, thankfully! I hope that you will take the time to pop over to the Rubbernecker Inspiration Blog to see what the other design team members have created just for you! There is also a brand new challenge this week!! If you create a card and join in the fun you could win some awesome Rubbernecker products!! 🙂

Thank you for stopping by today, wishing you a wonderful day!! 🙂

Rubbernecker Thursday- “Dude!”

Rubbernecker Thursday- “Dude!”

Welcome to another Rubbernecker Thursday! I have a really FUN card to share with you today, inspired by this cute little surfer “dude”, Zeke #891-03. SO cute!! I had not colored much since I broke my hand earlier this summer, and this is the first time I have colored with my Copics all summer…*gasp*! All I kept thinking while I was coloring was “Duuude!” So I decided to just go with it.  I die cut my letters for “dude”, then decided it needed something more, so I added a birthday sentiment from the rubbernecker Clear Stamp set, Happy Birthday #3031. The ovals were die cut with some brand new nesting dies from Rubbernecker as well, Nested Oval Small Stitch Die Set #5014 D, I LOVE these dies!! For my background  I stamped Vertical Stripe #686, in Blue Lagoon ink, on Blue Lagoon card stock from Fun Stampers Journey. I dug around in my scraps of Color Burst Watercolor papers and found this perfect piece to go with my little surfer, I think it tied the whole thing together wonderfully!

Thanks for stopping by, hope you are having a wonderful week so far! 🙂 I hope that you will pop over to the Rubbernecker Inspiration Blog and check out all the other fabulous cards that the other design team members have shared this week!
